Sony HDC-3100L Overview

The Sony HDC-3100L 2/3″ CMOS Broadcast Camera Kit provides pristine imaging at rates up to 1080p60 with 4K capture available with an optional CCU. A global shutter creates crisp image quality without the “Jello” effect found with rolling shutters. Camera features include an integrated ND filter wheel with servo control, a color correction filter, rich focus functions, and backward compatibility with Sony HDC-2000 series components. This modular camera is housed in a lightweight yet strong magnesium alloy body and includes the 7.4″ HDVF-EL75 EVF and a 60p resolution license.

 

Sony HDC-3100L 2/3″ CMOS SMPTE Fiber Broadcast Camera (Head Only)

The HDC-3100L 2/3″ CMOS SMPTE Fiber Broadcast Camera from Sony provides pristine imaging at rates up to 1080p60 with 4K capture available with an optional CCU. A global shutter creates crisp image quality without the “Jello” effect found with rolling shutters. Features include an integrated ND filter wheel with servo control, a color correction filter, rich focus functions, and backwards compatibility with Sony HDC-2000 series components. This modular camera is housed in a lightweight yet strong magnesium alloy body and incorporates SMPTE-standard fiber and SDI interfaces.

 

Optical Fiber Transmission
The integrated SMPTE-standard LEMO fiber connector enables the HDC-3100 to be used with separately available compatible CCU units for optical fiber transmission.
CMOS Sensor with Global Shutter
The HDC-3100’S 2/3″ CMOS image sensor’s global shutter eliminates any “Jello” effects and banding noise found with rolling shutters, producing crisp images with low noise and high sensitivity.
Format Flexibility up to 60p
  • Provides native 3G-SDI output in resolutions up to 1080p50.
  • Optional 1080p60 license is available separately.
  • Offers 4K output via the separately available CCU unit’s 12G-SDI and quad 3G-SDI interfaces.
Fine-Tuned Imaging
Fine-tuned imaging provides low-key saturation, powerful gamma functions, and rich vibrant colors, even in low-light settings.
Simultaneous HDR and SDR Production
The HDC-3100 captures HDR imaging, supporting Sony’s SR Live workflow with simultaneous HDR/SR production with reduced inventory needs.
Remote-Controlled ND and CC Filters
The built-in ND filter wheel and color correction filter can be controlled via a remote-control panel (RCP), master setup unit (MSU), or directly from the camera head.
Rich Focus Functions
  • A Viewfinder Detail function provides image-enhancing edge signals to your viewfinder.
  • It enables quick and precise focusing and includes a focus assist indicator and focus position meter.
Lightweight Durable Construction
  • The HDC-3100’s magnesium alloy body provides exceptional lightness and strength.
  • A wide handgrip, a low center of gravity, and an adjustable shoulder pad provide stable handling.
IP Production Compatibility
Use with the separately available HDCE-TX30 IP extension adapter to output ST 2110 signals directly without requiring a separate CCU.
Sony 7.4″ OLED HD ViewFinder for Portable Cameras

The Sony 7.4″ OLED HD ViewFinder for Portable Cameras is designed for use with HDC Series Cameras and helps to quickly track and focus on moving object, making it ideal for applications such as sports coverage, and focus assist function helps for accurate focusing. It uses organic Light Emitting Diode technology that draws less energy (19.5 W) and offers light emission from zero (deep blacks) to peak brightness (350 cd/m2) with a contrast ratio of more than 1,000,000:1.

A 10-bit panel driver ensures a smooth gradation from dark to bright portions of the image and allows you to precisely see contrast and color levels while framing a shot. The image magnification function can magnify the image displayed on the viewfinder. You can use the peaking plus function to improve the edge of an object by color, area selected, or both.

The 7.4″ HD ViewFinder includes other user-friendly features such as four assignable switches, waveform monitor function, and stable and long-term color reproduction with Sony’s feedback circuit. Flexible position adjustment mechanism offers various viewing positions – from high to low and left to right.
